You can follow Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, CNN, Stephen Fry, Britney Spears, News24, Gareth Cliff, Lance Armstrong and Al Gore to name but a few!  These are all Verified Accounts – which means Twitter has gone to the trouble to ensure these people are who they say they are – so you can follow in real time the thoughts of some of the world’s most famous people.

Get the latest news by using Twitter to follow news agencies and business and technology leaders to keep your finger on the pulse of the latest news and views from around the world.  Journalists are also using Twitter more and more to source up-to-the-minute information on breaking news events.

Twitter’s search functionality enables you to search the entire Twitter network for keywords (so, if you wanted to see what people are saying about Julius Malema right now, you can simply visit search.twitter.com, type in Julius Malema, and hit search to see what opinions on an issue are being expressed around the world in real time.
